Besides a detailed application letter we need a summary curriculum vitae with a recent passport photograph, your last two school reports (or graduation diplomas) in photocopy, as well as any other qualification credentials (internship, courses, etc.)
All training and apprenticeship periods start on August 1; the assessment of applicants begins in Oktober of the previous year. Applications are accepted from 1.September.
We have a multi-step selection process:
At Steilmann’s, the duration of an apprenticeship is three years. With the appropriate performance at vocational school (average marks 2.49 or better) and for subjects covered by the on-the-job training, you can pass the final examination with the Bochum Chamber of Commerce after 2 1/2 years.
At present, the allowance for all apprenticeships is
€ 558,-- .— in the first year,
€ 619,-- in the second year, and
€ 740,-- in the third year.

Additionally, you will receive a holiday and Christmas bonus. The Steilmann Group takes part in the state-approved formation of assets scheme.
In order to support the new apprentices in their start in professional life, the apprenticeship starts with an “introductory day”. We will show you the enterprise and take you on a tour through all departments. You will meet your tutor as well as your colleagues and will hear everything there is to know about training in the Steilmann House.
The traditional Starterparty takes place at the end of the first month and is organised by the 2nd year trainees. On this occasion, the management will welcome our new junior staff.
The apprenticeship is a dual system education.Twice a week, the apprentices will frequent the vocational school in Wattenscheid to gain the theoretical background. During the rest of the time, you will be trained on the job in the company’s departments. In regular time spans, the apprentices move on to another department so as to become acquainted with the whole range of their chosen profession.
Besides seminars concerning various training for example training programmes for specific products — you will take part in an internal material knowledge programme and an internal course in business English. In addition, you’ll have the chance to get the European computer Licence (EDCL). Regular performance assessments and interviews will assist your personal development. In order to give the apprentices an in-depth preparation for their final examination with the Chamber of Commerce, an intense internal prep course will take place.
Additional highlights:
Regularly, our apprentices will work at the fashion fairs (CPD Düsseldorf);
projects such as Sales Assistance or excursions and company tours,
round off the apprenticeship programme.
There are numerous possibilities to acquire further skills—such programmes will be planned individually in co-operation with our apprentices and employees. Besides sector-specific qualification courses for acquiring professional proficiency degrees like Vertriebsökonom, Marketingökonom, Industriefachwirt, or Qualified Balance Accountant there is also the possibility to begin an accompanying study in Business Administration or Business Informatics. For successfull apprentices, individual trainee-programmes will round off the education.
We offer apprenticeships and training places with the objective to integrate our junior forces into the corporation. Therefore, we are also interested in co-operating with interested and motivated young people after their time as apprentices. Depending on personal preferences, qualification, and the corporation’s needs, there are manifold job opportunities available.
