The Steilmann Group is conscious of and clearly advocates its social responsibility and is actively involved in fulfilling minimum social standards. Through the strict selection of our production partners and through the presence of our technicians on site, child labour, forced labour and other serious human rights infringements have been excluded.
Furthermore, we have been working with our own Code of Conduct since 2001. The minimum social standards set by the Steilmann Group comprise the following points:
Extensive training and information campaigns by our technicians on site abroad and by the national plant managers, as well as external pilot-audits by independent certification organisations are further measures to guarantee minimum social standards in all production sites world-wide.
At present we are working intensely on enhanced regulations concerning the realisation and surveillance of the standards. In this, we are supported by our membership in the Social Standards Group of the AVE/FTA where different variations of an independent monitoring are being discussed.
